Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani’s upcoming film ‘Lakshmi Boma’ is facing controversy even before its release. The Hindu Army has handed over a letter of complaint against the cast, crew and promoters of the film to Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar.

The letter alleges that the filmmakers used the name of Mata Lakshmi in the film to hurt the feelings of Hindus. The letter also tried to change the title of the film.

Hindu Sena president Vishnu Gupta has said that if the title of the film is not changed, he will take action in the High Court and will not allow the film to be released.

Allegations of propaganda for profit jihad

Earlier, #Shameanakshay Kumar started trending on social media with the release of the trailer of the film. Apart from insulting mother Lakshmi, there are also allegations of promoting love jihad in the film. Akshay’s character in the film is Asif and Kiara’s character is Priya.

Finding a Hindu-Muslim angle in the film, social media users recently sparked outrage against Akshay Kumar and called him a fake patriot.

The film was released on November 2

The trailer for the film was released on October 19. Sharing this, Akshay Kumar writes, “Wherever you are, stop and get ready to watch the trailer of #LakshmiBomb, because Lakshmi is coming in the rain. #Yes Diwali LakshmiBombali.”

It is a Hindi remake of the Tamil film Kanchana. It was previously scheduled to release in theaters on May 22, 2020. However, due to the epidemic lockdown of Corona, it went ahead. The film will now air on the OTT platform Disney Plus Hotstar on November 9th.
