Defendants fired six shots at Bollywood director Rakesh Roshan in 2000, two of which injured him.

A rogue and sharp shooter involved in the 2000 attack on Bollywood director Rakesh Roshan has been arrested in Maharashtra’s Thane district, almost three months after he failed to return to jail even after his parole expired. Raushan was shot dead outside his Santa Cruz office in Mumbai in January 2000, police said. The assailants fired six shots, two of which hit Raushan.
Eleven murder cases have been filed against the accused
Central Crime Unit inspector Anil Honrao also said on Saturday that Sunil V Gaikwad, 52, was caught in the Calvary Persian Circle area on Friday night. “We were informed that Gaikwad was coming to the Persian Circle area. We set a trap and caught him.” There are 11 cases of murder and seven cases of attempted murder against the accused. “One of these cases was the attempted assassination of Bollywood director Rakesh Roshan in 2000.”
Anil Honrao also said, “Gaikwad was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder and was lodged in Nasik Central Jail. He was released on a 26-day parole on June 2 this year.” He will return to prison after completion. He never came back. He was arrested last night. By then he was a fugitive. ”
Gaikwad is the bird of Ali Bandesh and Subhash Singh Tagore
Gaikwad was quite active in 1999 and 2000 and was involved in many crimes. He was associated with the miscreants of Ali Ban Desh and Subhash Singh Tagore. At the same time he was involved in a robbery in Nashik, where he fired on police members. “Gaikwad will be handed over to the Pant Nagar police, where a case of his absconding has been filed,” Honrao said.
