Veteran Bengali film actor Soumitra Chatterjee is admitted to the ICU of a hospital in Kolkata. His condition is said to be critical. Doctors treating him noted that the 85-year-old Soumitra was restless and semi-conscious. However, his oxygen level has returned to normal. When he was brought to the hospital on Tuesday, his oxygen level was very low. Soumitra’s Kovid-19 has received a positive response.

Soumitra is now in a high-risk area

Talking to PTI, a doctor said, “Soumitra’s sodium level is right. But the potassium level is low, trying to improve. Chat oxygen levels have been normalized and they don’t have fever, but they are still in high-risk areas.”

Physicians are monitoring 24 hours a day

Doctors at the hospital are monitoring Soumitra 24 hours a day. He was sent to the ITU on Friday alleging instability. He was at a very confused stage. Earlier, Chatterjee’s daughter Paulmi Basu had said that her condition was normal in terms of health. “My team of doctors is seeing my father. According to him, his condition is stable. His blood pressure is normal and he doesn’t even need oxygen,” she said.

Collaboration with Satyajit Ray was popular

Soumitra Chatterjee is especially known for collaborating with Oscar-winning director Satyajit Ray. The two worked together on 14 films. These are Bengali films – ‘Apur Sansar’, ‘Devi’, ‘Kishore Kanya’, ‘Abhijan’, ‘Charulata’, ‘Kupurush’, ‘Aranir Din Raat’, ‘Ashni Sanket’, ‘Sonar Kala’, ‘ Joy Baba ‘Felunath’, ‘Diamond King’s Country’, ‘Ghare Bare’, ‘Ganashatru’ and ‘Shakha Prashakha’.

Chatterjee has acted in about 100 films in his career, including two Hindi films ‘Nirupama’ and ‘Hindustani Sepoy’. He has also directed a film in Hindi called ‘Stri Ka Patra’.
