His girlfriend Riya Chakraborty, who is in jail in connection with the drug case involving Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, has also demanded that the case be handed over to the CBI. The actress’ lawyer filed the bail application in the Bombay High Court on Thursday during the hearing of her bail application. He said the case was not under the purview of the Bureau of Narcotics Control, so it should be handed over to the CBI.

Riya and her younger brother Shovik’s lawyer Satish Manshinde told the High Court during the hearing that ‘all future-related cases should also go to the CBI based on the Supreme Court’s decision to hand over the case (Sushant’s death) to the CBI. Rhea has been in jail for the past 17 days.

The NCB has filed a case against Riya and Shovik under several sections of the NDPS Act. To which Satish Mansinde said that it is illegal to spend money under Section 227A of the NDPS Act on bringing and procuring drugs. This law, however, is for the commercial use of drugs, not in small quantities.

The NCB’s investigation is still said to be illegal

In the bail application, their lawyers for Riya and Shovik said the investigation was illegal as it was out of jurisdiction. He said, “The CBI also has the authority to investigate drug-related cases under the NDPS Act under the 197 Gazette and the investigations carried out so far are illegal.”

Fear of deteriorating mental state

Rhea also wrote in the bail application that my mental condition could be worse with custody. Bell’s application was filed by his lawyer Satish Manshind. He wrote that his client was innocent and that the NCB was deliberately making strong allegations against him. He termed the investigation of the central agencies (NCB, CBI and ED) as a magical victim against Riya.

Hearing until the 29th

Meanwhile, the Bombay High Court has extended the hearing till September 29 and Riya Chakraborty remains in jail till then. The NCB has filed a case against the actress and her brother, including a total of 1 person, and Riya Chakraborty has been lodged in the Byculla Women’s Jail in Mumbai since her arrest on September 8.
