Mumbai police again summon actress and her sister for questioning, both in Himachal for brother’s wedding

Mumbai police on Tuesday again summoned Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel in a sedition case. Both have been asked to be present at Bandra police station for questioning before November 10. A case has been filed against the two at Bandra police station on October 1.

Earlier, Kangana was summoned on October 2 and her sister on October 2 for questioning. The actress later mentioned her brother’s marriage and said she was involved in the interrogation. The two sisters are currently in Bhambla, Himachal Pradesh. They can also be arrested if there is strong evidence against them.

It is accused of creating animosity between the two religions

An FIR was lodged against Kangana at the Bandra police station in Mumbai on the orders of a local court. Both sisters are accused of using offensive language for a particular community and inciting people belonging to a particular community. Both are also accused of dividing Hindu-Muslim names.

This was the complaint of Kangna’s petitioner

Bollywood casting director and fitness trainer Munawar Ali Syed filed an application in the Bandra Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court. Syed has made these allegations quoting some of his tweets.

The petitioner said in her petition, “Kangana Ranaut has been continuously insulting Bollywood for the last few months by calling her a hub of nepotism and privatism. From her official Twitter handle and through TV interviews, she has spread the relationship between Hindu and Muslim actors.

Syed further complained, “He tweeted highly offensively, which hurt not only religious sentiments, but also the sentiments of many colleagues in the industry.” Sahil testified that Kangana had many tweets in front of the court.

Cases have been filed under these sections

Bandra Metropolitan Magistrate, Joydev Y Jhule has registered an FIR under Section 156 (3) of the CRPC and directed an inquiry against Kangana. Taking action in this regard, the police has filed a case against Kangana and her sister under the following sections.

  • Section 153A: 153 (a) of the IPC has been imposed on those who try to spread hatred among the people on the basis of religion, language, caste etc. This can include imprisonment for up to 3 years or a fine or both.
  • In section 295: Under it, laws are considered a crime where an accused person insults or attempts to do so with intentional and malicious intent to hurt the religious sentiments of a section of the citizens of India.
  • Category 124A: If a person publicly declares any activity against the Government of India that could cause a security crisis in front of the country, he may be sentenced to life imprisonment. Anyone who supports or promotes these activities will be considered a traitor.
  • Category 34: According to Article 34 of the Indian Penal Code, when a common crime is committed by all people with a common intention, each person is liable for such a crime as the crime was committed only by him.
