However, world-renowned author Surendra Mohan Pathak, who wrote a crime fiction-based novel about the web series, objected to his novel being shown in the series scenes, as well as sending a notice to the producers, after which the production house apologized to the author. He further said that the scene has now been removed from the series.

There is a scene in the web series where Kulbhushan Kharbanda plays his Satyananda Tripathi and Surendra Mohan holds the reader’s book Dhabba in his hand. With this book they talk about narration. The whole uproar started from there. Surendra Mohan Pathak objected to the narration and demanded that it be removed. Axel Entertainment not only removed that scene from the web series but also apologized to the author in a letter on social media.

A letter was shared on the Twitter handle of Ritesh Siddhwani and Farhan Akhtar’s production house Excel Entertainment, which reads, ‘Dear Surendra Mohan Pathak, We have noticed from your notice that there is a scene from the recently released Web Mirzapur 2 series, where Satyananda Tripathi A character named is reading the novel ‘Dabba’ written by you. In addition, the voiceover used in that scene has hurt the feelings of you and your fans.

We apologize for the inconvenience and want to tell you that this was not done in any way to tarnish or damage your reputation. We know that you are a well known author and your writings are very important in the world of Hindi crime fiction.

It further wrote in the post, ‘We want to make sure it will be corrected. We will either obscure the book cover of that scene within three weeks or remove the voiceover. Please apologize to us for hurting your feelings carelessly.
