The film ‘Sun Children’ has been officially nominated for the 93rd Academy Awards by Iran.
This is Majed Majidi’s sixth film to represent Iran at the Oscars. Earlier, his film “Paradise of Heaven” was able to earn a place in the final nominee list in 1998 but did not win the award.

According to various sources, Iranian filmmakers announced it for the Oscars on Sunday. The selection committee said he screened 90 films and the latest selected films include ‘Walnut Tree’, ‘Yalda: A Night to Forgive’ and ‘Careless Crime’.
This is Majidi’s sixth film to represent Iran at the Oscars. Earlier, his film “Paradise of Heaven” was able to make it to the final nominees list in 1998 but failed to win the award. That year the Italian film “Life is Beautiful” was given the award.
The film deals with child labor, discrimination and inconsistencies in Iran’s school system. At the Oscars, the Iranian film A Separation, The Salesman won Best Foreign Language Award in 2012 and 2017, respectively, and is currently directed by Asghar Farhadi.
