According to the complainant, the actress has been insulting Bollywood for the past two months through her tweets and television interviews with Kangana Ranaut. He alleged that Ranaut had made “very offensive” comments in the tweet, which hurt not only his feelings but also the comments of many other artists. Syed alleged that Ranaut was trying to divide the artists on communal lines. “His sister also made offensive comments on social media to spread communal tensions between the two religious groups,” he said.
Looking at the documents on record and the petition for advice, the court found that the actress had committed a ‘cognizable crime’. The court directed the concerned police station to take necessary action against the actress and her sister under the relevant provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code (CRPC). The court said, “All allegations are based on observations made in electronic media such as Twitter and interviews and a thorough investigation by an expert is essential.”
