- The CBI had moved the Bombay High Court seeking quashing of the FIR against Sushant’s sisters
- In the affidavit submitted to the court, the CBI said that the purpose of the FIR was to influence the investigation
The CBI filed its reply in the Bombay High Court in response to Riya Chakraborty’s plea against Sushant Singh Rajput’s sisters. The investigating agency called the rear allegation on the basis of conjecture. It further said that the rear FIR against his sisters Mitu and Priyanka 90 days after Sushant Singh Rajput’s death has raised doubts about his credibility.
‘FIR against Sushant’s sisters should be dismissed’
The CBI has applied to the High Court to quash the FIR against Sushant’s two sisters. He also said that registering a rear FIR with the Mumbai Police was a complete violation of the law. “Riya made the allegations with the intention of influencing the investigation into Sushant’s death,” the agency said.
‘Second FIR on same information wrong’
CBI Additional Superintendent of Police Anil Yadav said in his reply that Mumbai Police was aware of the FIR lodged by Patna Police. There was no need to register a second FIR based on the same information.
“It is not allowed or permitted by law to register another FIR on the basis of similar information and reasons for action,” Yadav said.
Mitu-Priyanka’s application to quash the FIR
Riya Chakraborty had lodged an FIR against Mitu and Priyanka with the Mumbai police last month. In it, she accused them of making fake prescriptions for their boyfriend’s (Sushant) drugs. This FIR was later transferred to CBI. Mitu and Priyanka have approached the Bombay High Court against the FIR.
Rhea opposes the cancellation of the FIR
Riya has opposed the appeal of Priyanka and Mitu. In her response to the Bombay High Court, it was alleged that Sushant’s sister Priyanka and Delhi’s Ram Manohar Lohia illegally gave her mental illness-related drugs without consulting Dr Tarun Kumar.
According to Riya, Priyanka was asked to take drugs like Nakshito, Librium and Lonzep MD through WhatsApp June WhatsApp. Under the NDPS Act, three drugs are made from psycho-tropical substances. Riya further claimed that the allegations filed against Priyanka should be fully investigated as Sushant died a week after taking the drug.
Priyanka-Mitu’s appeal will be heard on November 4
Rhea claims that these allegations are of a serious nature, so the investigating agency should be given ample opportunity to investigate the case. The application for which the FIR has been dismissed needs to be dismissed. A bench of Bombay High Court Justices SS Shinde and MS Karnik will hear the pleas of Priyanka and Mitu on November 4.
