Mahesh Bhatt had filed a defamation suit against model Lavina Lodh.
Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and his brother Mukesh Bhatt on Monday filed a defamation suit against actress Lavina Lodh in the Bombay High Court for defamation and false charges of Rs 1 crore. The case has been filed.
Both petitions were listed before a single bench of Justice AK Menon for a preliminary hearing. Hearing this, the bench directed Lodh to file a reply in this regard. The single bench will now hear the case in three weeks.
Lodh’s lawyer assured the court that he would not make any such statement against Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt. Lodh posted a video on social media last week claiming that he was married to Mahesh Bhatt’s niece Sumit Sabharwal.
The Bhatt brothers sent a notice to Lodh through a lawyerIn the video, Lodh alleges that Sabarwal was involved in the illegal drug and human trafficking business. Lodh also alleged that the business was run by Mahesh Bhatt. After the video was posted, Mahesh Bhatt sent a legal notice to Lodh through his lawyer Amit Naik asking him not to make such false statements.
On Monday, the Bhatt brothers filed a case in the Bombay High Court, asking Lodh to stop making, publishing and broadcasting any defamatory and insulting remarks against him. The accused (Lodh) has also been asked to pay a loss of one crore rupees for making various objectionable, false and false allegations and statements in the case. It also requested that Lodh be instructed to remove his video.
The case alleges that Sabharwal has no direct connection with the Bhatt brothers and that he is ‘the son of the husband of the petitioner’s sister’. The lawsuit also alleges that Loth made false allegations against celebrities Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt with the intention of reaching an agreement with her husband on the issue of divorce.
