Soumitra Chatterjee, a veteran Bengali film actor, was given blood on Sunday after his hemoglobin count dropped slightly. The actor was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kolkata after contracting Kovid-19 25 days ago.

A doctor who treated him said the 85-year-old actor’s hemoglobin had dropped due to internal bleeding, which is now stabilizing after a blood transfusion, while doctors are considering giving him another dialysis. This will be the third dialysis from Wednesday.

The doctor said, ‘But his hemoglobin was removed from the internal bleeding, which is now a little better. Their platelets have increased, they have been given blood. His hemoglobin is also stable now. “Since there are some minor health changes due to the bleeding, we can give them dialysis on Sunday,” he said. The veteran actor has been on a ventilator since last week. Doctors told reporters on October 30, ‘His condition is stable compared to the last three days, so it was decided not to do dialysis on October 30. After evaluating their situation it was decided to consider it further.
Notably, Chatterjee contracted the coronavirus on October 6, after which he is being treated at the hospital. Her investigative report was later found to be negative, but many more health-related complications arose.
